Ambience (5stars): English decor: random mish-mashed style. High crumbling ceilings. Dim lighting & flickering candles. Large bustling space. It’s an awesome bar/restaurant to spend the evening at. So I was there on a mission: to taste their famous lamb burger and try that decadent-looking scotch egg. SCOTCH EGG (3stars): The decadent looks have little to do with their actual taste. While it is fun to get a tennis ball of a fried brown ball on your plate, it didn’t prove to be that special in taste after all. The fried sausage casing was rough and stale in texture. The egg was… well just an egg with a cool runny yolk! LAMB BURGER (5stars) “chargrilled lamb burger with feta, cumin mayo & thrice cooked chips”: Medium rare (wondering if that’s safe). So… I think that it’s worth the hype. You get a whiff of aroma when the it lands in front of you and you will be teased. The burger is one of the most tender that I have had so far. Bite down and feel it crumble between your lips; then the feta cheese gives in and its delicate grains mix with the meat and bread in your mouth. Next, try slathering some of the cumin mayo on it and take off to burger heaven. Stuffed Squash (2stars) “stuffed squash blossom braised in tomato with beef, veal & pork”: I got to try this dish because my friend ordered it. She goes for the healthier choices which I always admire. This dish had a very strong sour herbal aftertaste to it. It did not ring to my taste buds very well, not my kind of dish. DESSERT: Oh heavens! Nobody paid attention to the name of the dessert we had, but it was Oh So Good! A small piece of fluffy light whipped cream with a touch of cocoa and topped with a few pistachios served on a toasty caramel crusty bottom. It had slight hints of liquor and coffee.
