Amelias Epic Splinter: Amelia came in for a swollen leg with an open sore that didnt seem to be healing. When Dr Winot examined Amelia, she had 3 draining tracts on her leg with a possible foreign object in it. It had appeared that there was a significant amount of dead tissue on her leg that would require surgery to debride the wound and explore what else was occurring. Once we had her sedated and had clipped and cleaned the wound, it appeared that she had the biggest splinter we have seen in a long time! Luckily, for Amelia, what had looked like dead tissue before we cleaned for surgery, was actually just the stick! The stick was also only in the muscle of her leg. It had missed all of her tendons and ligaments and there appeared to be no other problems! Dr Winot removed the epic splinter and flushed her wounds and Amelia is recovering well at home!
