One of these is located within view of the national historic site: Grants Cottage. Grants Cottage is located at 1000 Mt McGregor Rd, Wilton, NY 12831. Ironically this is the same address that is given for the Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility. If you do a Google search on that address you will find a web link : doccs.ny.gov/faclist.html that it titled as the Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility. If you click on that link you will be re-directed to a general listing of New York correctional facilities, but Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility is not in that list. The Wikipedia article for Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility is found at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_McGregor_Correctional_Facility This article says that A labyrinth of underground passages used to transport the bodies of patients who died to the church and crematorium still exist. The extreme secrecy, nervousness and threats of arrest for filming near the prison (which is supposedly empty) has created more interest than the original story at Grants Cottage. Why would we not wonder what it is that they have to hide? Some might ask: Is this a place for tyrannical atrocities such as secret interrogations involving torture, and ending in death, followed by cremation? The site includes approximately 1,187 acres of land and 64 buildings with more than 575,164 square feet. All searches indicate that the facility is closed, yet there is a staff of guards who threaten news media with arrest, and confiscation of film, if they ACCIDENTALLY film the facility while at Grants Cottage. If you do a Google search on Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility and click on images you will find hundreds of pictures inside and outside from every view. These pictures were taken when the facility was being used as a normal prison. But NOW, when it is supposedly closed, everything about this facility has become so secret that police will respond aggressively to a news crew who accidentally films this facility from a distance. We can only imagine what would have happened if they had actually been there to film the prison. What if they were trying to take pictures of the crematorium, the underground tunnels, or the torture chambers? We have to wonder about the IQ requirements for these jobs. If they had wanted to keep this secret prison very quiet, all they would have had to do is let the news crew do their story on Grants Cottage and go. Who would have even cared what was in the background? It was their own extreme reaction that made this into a story of national interest. Do you remember when it was the people, who were being arrested, who hid their faces from cameras? Now police actually threaten to arrest a reporter for filming! When police ask for permission to violate the law that governs THE POLICE, by searching without a warrant, they are fond of saying What do you have to hide?
