America is a ship on the stormy seas of this world. The Captain of the ship is the President and his officers are Congress and the Supreme Court. Most of our leaders became captains and officers on the ship not because of their superior leadership skills or knowledge of the high seas, but rather, through a popularity contest with the riders of the ship. Politics has become who has the best face for the television cameras, who can professionally read a script given them, and who has the most connections to the big money in corporate America. Our Captain and officers need to be men and women of honesty, courage, and faith in God. They need to be willing to do the right thing, even if that means not getting elected for another term. The riders on the ship need to wake up and understand that character matters, a servants heart is a must, and experience in critical decision making is so very important. Will this group of leaders do the right thing? Time will tell but history is not on our side.
