American Women: Partners In Research made in 1960 shows how the Corning Ware Company consulted with women to improve their design of the Corning Coffee Pot. The film explains that women preferred the wide band of metal that supported an open style handle that reached out past the burner so it wouldnt get too hot. They also liked the atomic age Black Starburst style pattern the best. Later on in 1976 and again in 1979 Corning Ware Percolators were recalled after issues with the handle falling off were reported. Changes had been made from the original design shown in the video and glue was used to hold the handle housing to the unit. The glue did not stand up well to the heat, moisture and exposure to dish soap. You can spot Gooseberry and Snowflake patterned vintage Pyrex in the store in the beginning and a nice Cornflower store display near the end. They also show the rigorous testing that their products went through - a corning ware frying pan is heated and then dunked in cold water over 30 thousand times. Also diner style cups are tumbled in what looks like a bingo ball spinner thing to test for cracks and chips etc. What else do you spot thats notable?
