Amos Carter, 94 of Clinton, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 12:32 p.m., at Countryside Healthcare, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 19, 1919, in Arlington, KY, the son of the late Hiram and Maudie Lee (Tucker) Carter. He was a member of the Meeting Room, at Columbus, KY, and he accepted the Lord when he was a young boy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a self-employed building contractor for many years, and was superintendent over various commercial buildings; such as nursing homes, churches, and shopping centers in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana. He was also a licensed surveyor in Kentucky. He is survived by one daughter, Wanda Jerone Clark and husband Eddie Ray of Clinton, KY; one granddaughter, Melissa (Missy) Jeron Clark of Arlington, KY and her fiancé Paul E. Jones III of Clinton, KY; one grandson, Joshua Wayne Carter and wife Kelsey of Bardwell, KY; and one great-grandson, Jaden Carter also of Bardwell; two sisters, Earlene Rushing of Portage, IN, and Opal Jones of Saucier, MS; a devoted stepson, Bob Dimmet of Evansville, IN, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Mary Lou (Cobb); and second wife, Virginia Pearl (Willis); a son, Donald Wayne Carter; two sisters, Zora Stewart, and Ruby Moore; and an infant brother, Hiram. Funeral services for Mr. Carter will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Bill Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, near Clinton, KY, with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014, at the funeral home.
