An Angry Letter of an Uneployed Youth to Nouveau Riche Nigerians - TopicsExpress

An Angry Letter of an Uneployed Youth to Nouveau Riche Nigerians Who Acquire Private Jets An Angry Letter of an Uneployed Youth to Nouveau Riche Nigerians Who Acquire Private Jets EVERY Nigerian and his dog now know that about 1.8 Million young Nigerians are currently unemployed. The effects of this societal ill is banal enough, let me spare you because there is no luxury of time here. The crux of this letter is that one can not but wonder why the rich, elite class can not help in solving the matter. That many more Nigerians are becoming richer everyday is not rumour. The veracity in this claim has been corroborated by the entrance of Alhaji Aliko Dangote into the prestigious twenty-five (25) most richest persons on planet earth. However, to my utter chagrin, it appears that many of them are not really interested in helping to mop up the humongous number of jobless youth, aside a few of them. In the late 70s and early 80s, after the oil boom started, history is replete with many rich Nigerians who started large scale manufacturing industries in the country, thereby helping to drive the real sector, and growing the economy significantly. Then, it became obvious that young graduates who left the university then had choices to make between working in the Civil service, and the private sector. Conversely, what do we have today? Many of the so called rich would rather squander their money on acquiring latest private jets that cost fortunes to maintain, let alone, purchase. The list is growing everyday, it is as if, it is now part of bragging rights that…’I have arrived…’ in this country. This is a warped mindset, a sharp contrast from the one that brought the industrial revolutions that history is replete with. It is time for the nouveau riche to wake up to the true meaning of their God-given wealth, and see themselves as conduit pipes, and not storage tanks. The government alone can not provide all the job opportunities for the unemployed youths, let the rich stop investing in private jets…and just before I forget also…the frivolous pastors as well. Let them invest in the real sector, and make jobs available for us, the unemployed youth. From: An Angry, unemployed Nigerian youth: Culled from kayefi-dot-com
