An Excerpt from Metamorphosis Zach was still asleep when I woke up. As I got dressed, I suddenly remembered I was in the motel and walked into the bathroom and looked into the mirror. “You are one good looking guy, Nate,” I told myself happily, leaving the bathroom. Next, I walked into the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal for breakfast when I heard relatively close, shrill screams. I stood there not daring to breathe while listening closely. Disgusting gurgling noises followed the screams and something wet flopped onto concrete. Something started making a frenzied rustling noise and something like water balloons popped and a liquid slapped against the ground as an object fell with a thud. I realized it was multiple things, when they started making all sorts of happy, grunting, growling noises while chewing up their meal. I suddenly realized what was happening and peeked out the window. I saw nothing and stopped looking. I lost my appetite after that disgusting noise and went to Zach’s room and woke him up, telling him of what I had heard. “Yep, that’s what happens in a zombie-infested Earth,” Zach said, rubbing his tired eyes. “It sucks and it’s disturbing.” “I know.
