An LDS Missionaries journey by Elder Kaponotuitalau Faitau - Oct 13 at 4:15 PM Malo e lelei! - Just a quick mission update! Well, Ive enjoyed serving the Lord here in Maui. Its been quite an experience serving in an all speaking Tongan ward. The first time in my life being drowned in another language experience. (my family speaks mainly English); and it was worth every second! Met a lot of great families and individuals, have lots of memories, and I am really going to miss Maui. I received a call from my Mission President this past Saturday informing me I am being transferred to Honolulu, Oahu. I know that wherever the Lord needs me, I will go... Maui will be missed! MAUI NO KA OI! :-) My companion, Elder Mailau, and I were blessed with an amazing baptism this past weekend! Brought Ana Lauese into the fold of God. Ana has a great story of faith. Anas mom is a member of the church, strayed away from the gospel for some time. It was a difficult decision for Anas mom to return to church, but she decided best to go back, and Ana followed. Ana wasnt a member of the church at the time, so as Ana visited, we taught more about the Gospel. She especially loved the message about families being together forever. In our faith, we strongly believe in strengthening and protecting the family. We believe that family happiness doesnt just last here on earth, but can last forever. We shared this message with Ana, she knew that this was what she wanted. Her family has been through lot of trials, but with the knowledge of the Gospel; it keeps them going, leaving their family with a perfect brightness of Hope (2ne 31:20). I know that Heavenly Father knows Anas family needs, and as Ana faithfully took those steps towards baptism, God will help her family through her trials. My hope for Ana is to never give up, or in Tongan we say: Oua te ke fiu. I know Ana and her family will make it through every challenge! Also had a grand opportunity to bless a couple babies this past Sunday @ church: -Fetuolagi Liumeifasi Ailine Kaiulani Tau (3y) -Ati-vi-tungua Constance Tau (1y) It was a special moment to bless these 2. Ive never done it before, so I was very nervous at first, but then I replaced it w/ faith. These babies have a long life to live, and the faith of their Mother, Samoa Leilua, is strong, As these 2 follow their mothers example, they too can have that same faith, and same happiness. The world can be a dangerous place, but if treated properly; can be a beautiful place! Beautiful baby girls! Ive learned an important lesson coming here to Maui: Humility. Sometimes God asks us to do things we dont fully understand and/or comprehend. We ask ourselves is this really what Im supposed to be doing? when we should have the mindset of Ill do whatever you ask of me When we question, or doubt, Heavenly Father and his perfect plan, we put ourselves in a position of unfaithfulness, leading us to lean more upon our own thoughts and decisions, rather than Gods. God is Perfect, and everything He does is Perfect. With whatever God has asked of me, I have kept the mindset I will do whatever the Lord asks of me although at times, I REALLY wanted to question, and sometimes doubt. But as I kept that mindset >> I will do whatever the Lord asks of me; I have learned how humility and humbleness are attributes to a winning attitude. Even if we dont completely understand what the Lord is asking of us, we just trust the Coach, and He will direct our paths! (Proverbs 3:5-6) I promise this brings happiness, and a fullness of FAITH! Thank you all and ALOHA! Elder Faitau pix: Anas baptism & Samoa and her 2 beautiful baby girls - and completed my 18 month journey. 6 more months til complete of my 2 yrs of service as an LDS missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
