An Open Letter To: Any and All Mall Owners and Administrators in the Philippines Re: Magic the Gathering Players Magic the Gathering is a Trade-able Card Game that is enjoyed by thousands worldwide. The Demographic of Magic the Gathering players are in general, young – middle aged men with high disposable income. Magic is played by 2 or more players using decks of cards to satisfy a win condition in order to win. Intrinsically the value of any and all Magic cards is ZERO. The reason why the cards have value is because of the belief of the players that cards have value that creates a demand for the cards. The most expensive cards in magic can cost hundreds of thousands of Pesos. It is not unusual for a deck of cards used in magic to contain several cards worth more than a thousand pesos. What does this mean for you as owners and administrators. Magic players have high disposable income. If Magic Players can afford to spend tens, or even hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions of pesos to buy cardboard, then they also have a lot of money to buy goods and services at your mall. Magic is not a cheap game to play. A lot of people hang out in malls, some buy a lot, some buy a little, some buy nothing. I believe that Magic Players in General are great consumers. If a Magic player can spend 4k on a single piece of cardboard, then spending 4k on sneakers is very reasonable. If a magic Player can buy a 500 peso card, then buying a 150 peso hamburger is within reach as well. I believe that with some effort you would be able to see how Magic players spend in a mall and see that we are among the best persons to have in a mall. We watch movies, buy gadgets, eat food, do groceries and so much more in higher quantities than the average person does because if we did not have high disposable income, then we would not be playing Magic. A lot of times Magic Players can be harassed either because the game is viewed as gambling or players are considered loitering. There are a lot of people who go to malls to simply avail of the free air conditioning. I can assure you that Magic Players in general spend when inside a mall, and we spend a lot. Please take the time to verify if what I am saying here is true. If it is, then perhaps it is worthwhile to consider in future interactions with magic players Sincerely, John Paul Cunanan Layson Magic Gamer
