An Open Letter to my son-- Christian, Not really sure what I want to say to you now except THANK YOU for letting me be there for the ride. Back in 2006 you took the field as a ball boy at Upland High School and didnt miss a game ever since. You exemplify what is great about this game. As a dad all I ever asked of you was to be a good citizen, be a good teammate, be a good brother and son and never quit what you start. Your mom and I are so proud of you. You have given up your summers. Trained relentlessly, you led by example. We traveled together to long snapping events everywhere. We went to football camps at many colleges. You did what it took. I was honored to coach you back in 8th grade on the Upland Outlaws--- I remember the talks with you and your teammates about the journey and what it would take to make it to get to the Varsity. You did it son !!! Three straight years you played on Varsity-- to date 30-5 win/loss record is incredible. Along the way you have been a good teammate, made some great life long friends. Thats what it is all about son. You treated the game with integrity. You played when you were hurt. You left it on the field. I know one thing son. Tonight when you line up for the league championship against Rancho Cucamonga, starting at center like you have the entire season-- you wont come off the field second. No matter what the scores ends up. When mom, Simon, myself and your grand parents line up to walk with you before the game for senior night -- know in your heart how proud I am of you not only as a player for Upland High School but as a man. Somewhere behind the athlete youve become, the hours of practice, the coaches who push you, and the fans who cheer for you, is the little boy who fell in love with the sport and never looked back. Play for him. I Love you, Dad
