An announcement from from a state conflict panel: In People v. Superior Court (Johnson), the court held that prosecutors are entitled to direct access to police personnel files in order to fulfill Brady obligations. If they discover something, they then need to file their own Pitchess motion in order to disclose it to the defense. This case eliminates the prosecution argument that they dont have constructive knowledge of Brady material in police personnel files because they lack access to them. courts.ca.gov/opinions/documents/A140767.PDF
