***An area of strong thunderstorms continue to move eastward into parts of Northern and Eastern Burke, Western Caldwell Counties*** At 5:35 pm Doppler Radar shows a line of thunderstorms extending from around Collettesville in Caldwell County down through the Northern and Eastern parts of Burke County including Chesterfield and extending to Drexel. The cell will continue to move east at about 10 mph and will move into Eastern Burke and Western Caldwell Counties in the next 15-30 minutes, areas including Valdese and Gamewell. Heavy rain, gusty winds of around 40 mph and frequent lightning is possible with this line of storms. A second thunderstorm, while it has weakened some, continues to affect the Salem Community in Southern Burke County. This cell has anchored itself against the South Mountains and has showed little movement over the past 30 minutes. Moderate to heavy rain continues in this area as the storm will drift around over the next few minutes.
