An awesome stadium, a very interesting crowd and a fantastic ambience. Thats what all felt about the two day Renna Thalassery Premier League Football tournament conducted by United Thalassery Sports Club and Teleboyz. Even though the matches went on a lil late than the scheduled time, the cooperation showed by the lovely bunch of Thalasserians is an evidence of true sportsman spirit of the place where they come from. The momentum they kept throughout the event was overwhelming. The feedback and appreciation which we received from all around makes us glad and humble and the way it was organized and presented was a true manifestation of our togetherness and hard work. TFL came to an exciting and thrilling end, when Al Rehwan Stadium Brothers lifted the trophy. In a tense final Al Rehwan Stadium Brothers defeated Sanford Chalembeez 2-0 in the penalty shoot-out after both teams ended in a goal less draw during the play time. Families came in large numbers to witness the matches on both days and it looked like a festival rather than a football tournament. This mood had promoted the staffs of Renna Mobile, who were the title sponsors to conduct a friendly match with rest of UTSC team. In this match Renna Mobile with all Omani players beat rest of UTSC by 3-1. In an interesting development to promote the young boys, a match between UTSC Red and UTSC Blue in the junior level was conducted on both days which drew the attention of the large family crowd present at the venue. In the semi finals Al Rehwan Stadium Brothers beat Cosmos by 2-1 and Sanford Challembeez beat Teleboys 2-1. Salih Thacher added more spices to the atmosphere with his electrifying commentary and also came up with spot sports quizzes much to the delight of the crowd. Tariq Al Balushi of Renna was presented a memento for supporting the event. P.M.Jabir, community welfare secretary of Indian Social Club was the Chief Guest of the function and COT Nazir, a noted social worker in Thalaserry, who flew from India was the guest of honour. Other dignitaries who were present were: Shamsudeen Malyikkal, Siraj- Managing Director of Al Rehwan, Siraj Mohbi, Nishad, Abdullah Maliyakkal, Amir of Noor hyper market and Nassar , Marketing Manager of FAP. There was lucky draw winner for the spectators on both the days The promising player of the tournament award was given to Naeem of Oliyat Strikers and top scorer of the tournament was Darwish of Teleboys. While the best goal keeper award was presented to Arun of Al Rehwan stadium brothers, Shahbaz Nassar of Sanford Chalmbeez walked away with the best player of the tournament award. The fair play trophy was presented to Teleboyz team. A very special thanks to the entire crew of Tely Boyz whose dedication and commitment was an added benefit for the execution of the event.
