An excerpt from Haunted Ohio IV: Restless Spirits, from the chapter about revisiting sites of stories from previous books. Scary in Pinks Patrick*, who saw the ghostly girl of Woodland Cemetery, (See the first Haunted Ohio book) was working for a local police force. The local force had a reciprocal aid agreement with nearby Wright-Patterson Air Force Base so when, about 2 a.m., he and his partner heard a call about an intruder at the Visitor’s Center, they drove onto the base. “The tornado alarm went off. I thought the aliens had got loose or terrorists were storming the base. Nobody could explain why the alarm went off.” The duo pulled up to the Visitor’s Center, located in a Quonset hut. “There was a guy standing there, behind the hut. And he waved at me. I asked the dispatcher if there were any base cops in the area. ‘No,’ he said, ‘they’re still in the museum building.’ “Now I’m something of a military buff and I could see that the man had on what are called ‘pinks.’ This was a dress uniform worn by junior and senior grade pilots during World War II. He also had on an overseas cap, not a camo cap like a regular military cop. He saluted. I got out of my car with my flashlight and as soon as the light hit him, he disappeared.”
