An excerpt from "Spirit of the wind" Clouds hung low and dotted the chill night sky as dozens of sparsely clothed figures huddled around a blazing fire doing their best to stave off sickness and death that the winter wind seemed to usher in. Chief Hototo sat silently staring into the bright orange and red flames as they danced in the darkness casting deep shadows over his grim features. He contemplated what it is he and his people must do to survive during these dispirit times. Cold sweat beaded along his tan wrinkled brow and mingled in with his long greying hair nearly freezing in the wind as it dripped down to his furs. About a full moons cycle ago his spirit guide Matchitehew had a disturbing vision, a vision of death and destruction, at the time it was unclear to the man as to how this would occur then several days ago it struck. The white man, the white devils; he thought, in their quest for greed and power over the land had attacked his people, HIS PEOPLE in the night like cowards. They killed women, children the sick and the feeble anyone whom could not disappear into the night forest like mist. Hototo shut his eyes at the memory fighting back tears that stung his eyes and threatened to burst free. Those who managed to survive the attack had ended up here, on the run; the white devils never far behind. Anger flooded over him in that moment. He meant to see them pay for what they had done, he meant for him and his people to reclaim the home that was lost, he knew what he must do he just wondered if he could go through with it. Upon praying to the great serpent spirit Situlili Hototo was told of how his people could gain the power to destroy their enemies, but it came at a cost. The cost was blood, innocent blood the blood of a child
