An excerpt from my book... There is no such thing as a single molecule that makes up most vitamins. Whole food vitamins are actually groups of chemically related compounds that cluster in the foods we eat. There are other, extremely important molecules associated with the major vitamins. These are the cofactors, trace minerals, co-enzymes, and antioxidants necessary for the whole food vitamin to work. If you choose a vitamin that is a whole food vitamin, you will get those extra factors along with the main clusters of vitamin molecules, increasing the ability of the vitamin to function. The whole food vitamins are easily absorbed, including the vitamin micronutrients that go with them. In addition, they are completely in the form that the body needs them in. Our bodies know exactly how much of a specific vitamin is needed, and allows the rest to pass through the system. This is a process known as “selective absorption.” Lupus And Me: Living Well With An Autoimmune Illness: Healthy Nutrition (Volume 1) by Jenn Schoch Link: amzn/1490306471
