An important reminder that the policies of our climate change - TopicsExpress

An important reminder that the policies of our climate change denying government will have serious ramifications on our Pacific Island neighbours who are particularly vulnerable to climate change due to the potentially devastating impact of sea level rises. Tony Abbott is risking the future of Australias Pacific island neighbours by burying his head in the sand over climate change, according to Tony de Brum, the minister assisting the President of the Marshall Islands. The Marshall Islands, potentially alongside other nations such as Kiribati and Vanuatu, will be approaching the Australian government to register dismay at what they see as a lack of leadership on climate change...We need Australia to show leadership on this issue as its life or death for us. This thread of ignoring climate change will likely run through many aspects of Oz foreign policy - development and trade practices that will institutionalise climate inaction, continuing harmful investments like mining and calling it sustainable, exporting coal, and blocking space to explore sustainable development and livelihood alternatives.
