An update letter from Rio, to our dog adoption coordinator: I just wanted to let you know that I really like my new home. My new human, Rhonda, and her son, Nathan, are great people. It was an adjustment at first because Nathan leaves every Sunday and I don’t see him all week. The first weekend that he came back home I snarled at him … old habits are hard to break. But I could tell by Rhonda’s voice that that was wrong. I have not done it since. The second weekend he came home I was so excited to see him that I danced around. He just laughed. Today they are still working on the fence. Slowly but surely it is getting done … just taking longer than anticipated. I no longer have to come out on a leash but it will be nice to be able to run around the back yard without them worrying about me and the squirrels. Nathan took a break at one point. He is MY human … I claim him. LOL Oh, I almost forgot. Rhonda’s oldest son, Chris, came over to the house today and opened the door to meet me. I didn’t snarl or growl at all. He is a good human also. Slowly but surely, I am re-adapting to be the companion you thought I’d be. Love, Rio
