Ana Bing Fonua is standing for the Tonga national elections this year. She says her key areas in her political platform are climate change, international development and sustainability. She also wants to give women and children a voice, and to focus on disability rights if elected. “I have to stand for Parliament to represent all those who were participants during the practice parliament session and all women of Tonga,” Ana Bing said.“That changed my whole plan.” Her campaign message includes the following, on her Facebook Page: ... ecological democracy is defined as the institutional framework which aims at the elimination of any human attempt to dominate the natural world, in other words, the system which aims to reintegrate humans and nature … Ana was selected the Prime Minister during the First Practice Parliament for Women in Tonga earlier this year and was also a recipient of the Prime Minister Pacific Australia (PMPA) Awards. She also has a Masters in Sustainability (International Development and Environment Analysis) from Monash University and a Bachelor of Science (International Business Management) from Brigham Young University of Hawaii.
