Anambra holds Pro Jonathan Rally (30/08/14) Post Date August 31, 2014 Anambra state government and the ruling party, APGA, today rallied in support of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s 2015 presidential race. Anambra state adopted the president as their presidential candidate in a well-attended rally at Ekwueme Square in Awka. Both Gov. Willie Obiano and APGA party chieftain Victor Umeh underscore that while APGA was adopting the president and rallying behind him, the party would contest every other position, senate, federal house and state assembly seats included. Chief Umeh recalled that APGA had previously supported the president in a similar fashion in 2011. Mr. Umeh also disclosed that APGA and PDP would in due course hold talks on a possible accord. Former senate president Chief Ken Nnamani attended the event as did Iyom Josephine Anenih, the former minister for women’s affairs, both being staunch PDP members. Various attendees justified why Anambra should rally behind President Jonathan. The rally in Awka follows in the bells of the recent southeast TAN rally two weeks back at the same venue. Several attendees justified the widening national support for the President’s second term in concrete terms. Anambra State SSG. Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze who attend the rally said, President Jonathan was most deserving of a second term to enable him continue his transformational agenda. “The President has done well for the country, for the southeast and for Anambra. Under his leadership the country has advanced and our democracy stabilized, despite prevailing challenges. He deserves to complete the transformation he has started. Moreover, of all the prospective candidates, he seems the most suitable to lead Nigerclass now.”
