Anchorage Of Peace was Pastor Rony’s uplifting message for tonight. He emphasized that of all the people in the world, Christians should have the peace of God when we make a choice to factor Christ into all our circumstances. The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:6, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Bear in mind that he wrote this verse while he was imprisoned for preaching the Gospel of Christ. It means “Do not worry or be anxious over anything as God is present to help.” So it is a choice on our part not to be anxious. Is it not true that we have to make choices in life daily on what to do? With anxiety, we can also make a choice not to be anxious but to trust God. In fact, we should pray than worry, and this is a choice! When you are tempted to worry over something and about to lose your peace, decide to pray and commit the problem to God. Then after praying, give thanks to God, believing that He can come into your situation and turn it around. Anyway, God is aware of all the details of your trouble without being told. Also, it is a good practice to give thanks to God when you wake up in the morning. Somehow it will dress up your spirit to face the brand- new day. However, this does not mean that you will be free from troubles, but you will go through the day much easier, facing and overcoming difficulties with God’s peace. Hence, when we choose to pray and praise God, instead of being anxious, there will be no room for us to imagine and amplify our problems. So do not let worries take you for a ride and send you into anxiety, but rather let your requests be made known to God and cultivate practical trust when you commune with Him. The Bible says that the peace of God, which surpasses all human understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Being oblivious to this truth will cause many Christians to lament, complain and whine when they ask God for help. Take note that all God wants us to do is to simply believe and ask Him in faith. The answer to a prayer is either “yes”, “no” or “wait”. However, many answers are in the “wait” category. Though the waiting time is the hardest, we should learn to thank God during this period of waiting on Him. When you refuse to be anxious but act in faith and be thankful, it shows that you trust Him though the answer is not there yet. And according to your faith, it shall be granted to you. On the contrary, when you lose your peace, you are unguarded and unprotected. Every day and night, you will be tortured with sleepless nights, affecting your emotions and health. Like it or not, we all function with our hearts and minds daily. Often we learn much more in pain and sorrow than in fun and pleasure. Indeed, you can do and be your best when you have peace in your heart and mind to make wise decisions, even in troubled times. It is written in Isaiah 26:3 that God will keep a person in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him because he trusts in God. This happens when our mind is full of God’s Word and abides firmly in it. Amazingly, whether a pauper or a king, one can trust God and be successful. The big difference is not their status, but how much they trusted God. We find that King David of old trusted in God alone despite his vast army, fame and fortune. In Psalm 21:1-7, he declared God salvaged him from many troubles. He exalted God for His mercy and strength, thus he will not be shaken because he trusted in the Most High God. Life will have tremendous meaning when your anchor in God is so strong that you cannot be moved from His peace. Interestingly, according to statistics, 40% of worries are about bad things that have never happened. Thirty percent of worries are bad things that had happened but you keep amplifying the past, trying to bring them into the future. Then 22% of worries are trifles. So it shows altogether in these three categories, 92% of worries are unnecessary. With the remaining 8%, 4% of worries are potential and genuine problems that you can do something to help and the final 4% belongs to real issues that you cannot change. So the final analysis is that in life, we are actually contending with only 4% of real concerns. Is it too much for God to help you manage this 4%? Certainly not! God’s unconditional love, unlimited power and unwavering willingness are more than enough to see you through it all. If you believe and keep faith in Christ, nothing shall be impossible. To give your life to Christ is the best thing to do. Then you will experience His all-surpassing peace anchored in your soul, which the world cannot give.
