Ancient Iberia is a huge puzzle: What the hell are those Germani - TopicsExpress

Ancient Iberia is a huge puzzle: What the hell are those Germani doing in the center of the peninsula between the Iberian and Celtic areas? Why is Lusitanian (a distinct Indo-European language) surrounded by Celts, as if it was right in the core of their homeland? How did the Celtiberians arrive there, if their comunication with the rest of Europe is cut? Irish legends suggest the Goidelic Celts originated in Hispania and conquered Ireland, displacing the Tuatha Dé Danann. Besides, Celtiberian is a Q-Celtic language, as Gaelic (and unlike Gaulish). Contemporary historians mention the Celtici of Southern Iberia as the most ancient of all Celts. Also, Iberians are said to be related to the Sicani of Sicily (according to Thucydides) and the ancient Corsicans (Seneca the Younger says the inlanders spoke Iberian). Where did they originally come from? And who are the obscure Turdetanians/Tartessians, culturally related to Iberians but living in Celtic placenames? This huge melting pot is believed to be, according to some rather fanciful historians, the craddle of Indo-European peoples, which would explain the existence of such an old IE language as Lusitanian so far from the supposed Eastern IE Urheimat. But anyway, Ive also read people suggest that Iberia is Atlantis and even the f***ing craddle of humanity itself (not kidding). Well, what do you think of all this?
