“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion...” -(Genesis 1: 26) That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. When God made man, He commanded man to have dominion. The word ‘dominion’ means to ‘subjugate’ or to ‘prevail against’. When one needs to prevail over anything, there is a battle to be won. So when God told man to dominate, He inferred that man would fight and prevail over anything that rises against man. Man’s domination was going to come with some warfare. Friend, are there battles you are fighting? God says, fight and win your battles, and you will walk in dominion. As you prevail over the challenges against you, and over the attacks of the enemy, you will have dominion; as you subdue every force of darkness around you, dominion will be your portion; as you press on in battle, victory and dominion will be yours. Don’t give up on any battle that comes your way; keep fighting. When the doctors give up on your health, keep fighting; when it seems your marriage is set to collapse, keep fighting; when it seems your career is retrogressing, don’t accept it, just fight for more progress; when it seems the whole world has conspired to keep you at a spot, keep pressing on, and keep fighting for your progress. Don’t sit back and allow the enemy to prevail over you; victory is your portion if you don’t give up. Every battle that comes your way is your opportunity to prevail and have dominion. Victory may not always come immediately or easily, but victory is sure if you don’t give up. Victory is God’s expectation from you; and if God expects you to win, He doesn’t expect you to give up. Dominion is God’s instruction to you; and if you desire to have dominion, fight your battles, win them, and even when the battles go tough, don’t give up.
