"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." - Luke 9:23 Denial of our "self" is not limited to following after the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, but it is the rejection of all of our ambitions, philosophies, and ways that do not wholly have their source in His very life. Beloved, if we agree with ourselves then we cannot manifest the life of God, but if we reject everything about ourselves that does not come from the Son of God and de-value everything that we think highly of that has its source in the world and is contrary to the very life of God, then we make room for our entire self to be conformed to His likeness. We are being made to look like Him!
