And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins. – Mark 2: 22 As 2014 ticks away, I don’t want to see the New Year carrying with me old stuff. “See, I am doing a new thing!” God says in Isaiah 43: 19. Yes, He is an old but never a boring God! In the coming year 2015, God surely has in store for His own new blessings. But it is very important that I am prepared to receive the new blessings of God. God will not want to put new wine into old wineskins, so I got to put off the old self and renew my mind. I need to make a conscious effort to let go of past hurts. I don’t have to let them trap me or hold me back from getting my new blessings. If I hold grudges against some people, this is the time to forgive and forget. Perhaps they even didn’t mean to hurt me, or we just didn’t understand each other. As I say goodbye to 2014, let me also say goodbye to bitterness, which even hurts me rather than the other person. Again, I need to put an end to every bad habit that doesn’t glory God or help me become the best I can be. I have to write them down and resolve that they don’t set me back again. Lastly, I need to map out new strategies and detailed, timed plans that will make me more productive in 2015. I need to tax myself a lot, and get very busy in the pursuit of my God-given purpose. By so doing, the devil will fail in getting me to do the wrong things, I will be able to overcome stress and frustration, and then I will find fulfillment. Maybe this sounds interesting to you and you’ll consider it in writing your New Years resolutions. May God help us all!
