And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed - TopicsExpress

And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed (Genesis 2:25). I don’t know about you, but before I can fully conquer any problem, I need to understand the problem as well as how it began. In evaluating my own self, I went back to Genesis - the second and third chapters of Genesis: the Garden of Eden. What a magnificent place! Beautiful beyond description, a perfect, pollution-free atmosphere, green foliage, fragrant flowers, crystal-clear water, much clearer than our Ohio River! And on top of all the physical beauty, there was absolute innocence. No sin. This means that Adam and Eve had a relationship that was free of hang-ups. All that I can say to that is WOW! No hang-ups, no problems, no drama! Ooh wee! J The last verse in Genesis 2 verifies that: Naked. Laid bare. Open. Not just physically but emotionally as well. That explains why they were not ashamed. There was this remarkable openness. Their discussions, their actions, their entire existence was non-defensive, unguarded, and absolutely unselfish, a lack of self-consciousness in each others presence. Talk about the ideal marriage!. Lol Enter the Devil with his alluring offer, and exit innocence with its pleasurable benefits (Genesis 3:1-6). And we know the result - the eyes of Adam and Eve were opened, and they knew that they were naked! They became self-conscious. Theyd never known those feelings before. And the relationship between man and woman has never seen that type of innocence again. And here we are… Today’s Prayer Lord, bless our relationships and marriages. Let us work together to experience a little bit of that innocence felt in the Garden of Eden. Let us strengthen our friendships and relationships to be productive and not a means of gossip. Teach us to appreciate what we have and to be happy for each other, not jealous. In Jesus Name, Amen
