Anders steps in as general manager at Greenville Pickens Speedway EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) - Anthony Anders, the 2014 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) National Points Champion, has reached a deal with Greenville Pickens Speedway owner Kevin Whitaker to lease the historic race track. Anders will serve as general manager and promoter for the upcoming 2015 season. Anders will be bringing in a mix of new employees and many staff existing staff members will continue at the speedway. Anders began delegating responsibilities to his transition team on Thursday, a day after the deal with Whitaker was reached. “It is a huge undertaking to pull all the details together in such a short time,” Anders said. “Every contract and agreement, including sanctioning bodies, vendors, suppliers, service providers, advertisers, staff, and employees has to be reviewed, negotiated, and signed.” Anders said the biggest changes fans and racers will notice in 2015 will be along pit road and in the garage area. The new GM plans to hire more technical inspectors and pit stewards and has already began working on improvements and repairs to the track. “Safety is our main focus, as we strive to improve the outdated facility and strengthen weekly programs,”Anders said.
