Anna Halprin leading TRUST WIN Walk On October 27, TRUST - TopicsExpress

Anna Halprin leading TRUST WIN Walk On October 27, TRUST WIN (Womens Interfaith Network) gathered over 100 women - Christian, Druze, Jewish, and Muslim - for a Womens Meditation Walk with Anna Halprin, pioneer American dancer who has shaped the dance world around the globe with her innovations. We walked on the Goldman Promenade that Annas husband Lawrence Halprin designed as a gift for us – commemorating the fifth anniversary of his passing. We were Israeli and Palestinian women walking on the seam between East and West Jerusalem precisely at a time when there are nightly violent disturbances in the area - and the women came to walk with peace in every step. Women were from the South, the North, and the Center of Israel. From Tel Aviv and Haifa, from Furedis and Daliat HaCarmel, from Jerusalem neighborhoods in East and West Jerusalem, from Efrat and Ramallah, from settlements, moshavs, kibbutzim, and Arab villages. Religious and secular women, right wing and left wing – an amazing diversity that was unified in sisterhood wanting our children to grow up with peace and security in our land. https://youtube/watch?v=m7zQu6q9Q1A themedialine.org/news/news_detail.asp?NewsID=41124 We began with Anna leading us in spontaneous dance, then opened with blessings offered from the different religions. We set out and walked silently and slowly, arm in arm through the serene and expansive natural beauty looking out over West and East Jerusalem and out to the Dead Sea and Jordan. Some women had babies in packs on their backs or held the hands of toddlers. Passersby looked at us with surprise and then smiled as we glided by them. In the ampitheatre at the end, the women danced with joyous energy led by Anna and accompanied by drummers. A Druze woman cried as she hugged her Jewish friends and said this day gave her hope. A Muslim woman mentioned the terrible summer we all endured and said this is the way women overcome the war. One Jewish woman said Im so thrilled to meet with Arab women after all weve been through lately. One Israeli dancer was overjoyed I was ready to go to California to dance with Anna Halprin - and she came to us! A reporter from Alhurra TV said I was amazed to see more than one hundred women walking silently together and not talking! An Israeli reporter commented This was so different from many peace events -- so quiet and heartfelt. As the sun set, the women slowly drifted off to return to their families watching the lights come on across the Old City walls and the entire city, savoring the sisterhood of joyful and peaceful energy we had experienced together. We are grateful to Barbara Meislin - the Purple Lady, and to women in California, Barcelona and Germany who share our vision of women building harmony and trust in our land. We appreciate everyones prayers, support, and love which strengthen and enrich us in our determined and holy work together.
