Anon has asked: I am only looking for advice/experiences only, so please leave any negativity or bashing to yourself. Im a first time mum to a beautiful 9 month old girl. I am lucky to still be able to breastfeed in conjunction with feeding her solids. Since becoming mobile, she has become a grazer, having only quick but frequent feeds from me which recently, I have been able to get her to feed for longer periods during the day. However, I have had more difficulty in changing this frequent feed cycle throughout the night where she is waking almost every hour to feed/drink then settles back off to sleep. I battled with sleep problems before pregnancy and up until now I have coped well, but recently I have found waking to feed every hour to two hourly on top of the sleep problems I have, really has me struggling through the day. I dont feel that I am functioning to my best on all levels and I feel as though my daughter isnt getting the best of me, which in turn makes me feel as though Im a bad mother. I have contemplated substituting one of her nightly feeds with a formula feed, though Im experiencing some reluctance, as I saw or read somewhere that some formulas contain the nasty food additives which are linked to behavioural issues such as ADD/ADHD. Im confused by what I should do as Ive had so much advice from various sources pushed on me. Do I persevere with breastfeeding through the night (my preferred option), or do I substitute a feed and if so, what is the best formula on the market? What have others done in this situation?
