Anon question from one of our moms, can you help? Hi, Im just wondering if anyone can offer some advice. Im due to give birth shortly which will make me a first time mother. Im going to be a single mother, as the childs dad doesnt want any involvement and has been that way since I found out I was pregnant! Anyways I know it’s some time away now, but after my maternity leave I am planning on returning to work, as it will be my only source of income, however I find myself worrying over childcare costs!!! I have no family who live near who I could depend on for babysitting, and would require a child minder or au pair as I work shift work hours, varying from mornings, evenings, and all night, 10 hours a day. Would anyone know the cost of such services, or advice me how best to go about finding out?? Also my babys dad has agreed to help out financially, or as he says himself Ill see what I can afford, Im not trying to pinch his money off him, but it’s his child and he should support it, saying that would anyone be able to recommend how much per wk for maintenance?? He works full time and has no one else to support apart from himself. Please HELP, I find myself worrying constantly over it!!! TIA X
