Anon writes I had an interesting experience yesterday at a structured play session yesterday....I have an 11month old and since he was 8 weeks old Ive had him in everything and everything to occupy . his and my time and to get him socialising. I understand that some people dont and shut themselves in with small babies which is fine. Anyway another little boy came up to my son and they were playing with the same toy together nicely. The other boy sits on my sons legs, which is fine its not hurting anybody and the boy is obviously not learnt self awareness yet. My son is really quite gentle and I am always by him to tell him when he needs to be gentle, he loves to kiss other babies and seeing as this boy was close enough he kissed the top of his head. The other little boys mother let out a huge gasp and said no,no,no frightening both the babies and took her baby away. My poor son was left sitting there thinking hed done something wrong. My question is, how do I approach this? Do I just try to keep my son away from playing with him? I really dont want him feeling negative or getting confused about normal reactions etc. but I wouldnt want to offend the mum. After it happened I just said aloud, good boy for kisses but he still looked upset. Later on in the session the instructor had said to her that it was ok for the babies to touch each other after she kept pulling him back from exploring. Im a bit baffled.
