Another good argument for not taking a cab home. I had to wait almost an hour before I was picked up. I called to see what was taking so long and the dispatcher just said, they are on their way. Ooookay. When they finally did get me, the driver apologized to me for taking so long. She had taken a fare downtown, someone hailed her even though she wasnt available for hire. They were visibly intoxicated and she said she would rather make sure someone gets home safely then have something happen to them and feel badly about it. I may have been dead dead tired when I got home, but I can get there faster than one hour. Okay some of you are going to spout off that it was Saturday night and the cabs are busy at midnight but when I called, I was told it would be about 15 minutes. That time frame comes from the cabbie to dispatch so the next fare knows when to be ready. In spite of my frustration, I had a good conversation with the cabbie and she knows the Island so well, I didnt even have to give her directions.
