Another massive blow to the working classes and all us voiceless - TopicsExpress

Another massive blow to the working classes and all us voiceless people world over :( While its another victory for Neo-Liberalism, Corporate-Government Nexus & American hegemony. Warren M. Anderson is Dead. The same Warren Anderson who served as Chairman and CEO of the Union Carbide Corporation (the corporation that owned the gas plant) at the time of the Bhopal Gas tragedy in December, 1984, one of the worlds most lethal industrial accidents. A tragedy, which claimed more than 10,000 lives (yes, over 10K) and injured over 500,000 (yes, half a million) Anderson was charged with manslaughter as well as killing and poisoning of animals by Indian authorities and was promptly placed in custody. If convicted, he could have spent a lifetime in jail. Anderson posted bail, returned to the US, and refused to return to India. He was declared a fugitive from justice by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bhopal in 1992. United States governments (of both Republican & Democrat parties) declined to extradite him citing a lack of evidence and our own Indian governments (both of Congress & BJP) were never really so concerned about justice. Despite his deplorable crimes against humanity, Arjun Singh of the Congress party (the Chief Minister of the state of Madhya Pradesh in 1984) on orders from then Secular Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi (who was spineless & chickened out in front of American establishment) escorted Anderson to a private plane that flew him out of India so that Anderson could live in his safe haven in Florida, USA for the rest of his life. In fact, Andersons been dead for over a month. His death, which was not announced by his family, was confirmed from public records less than 24 hours ago. He was 92 and wouldve turned 93 on November 29. And Neo-Liberal media outlet the New York Times wrote a eulogy like article for him, calling him courageous (Im never reading that paper again) Andersons Natural & Peaceful death in the US has only added to the misery & humiliation of all victims of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. DOWN WITH AMERICAN HEGEMONY. DOWN WITH SPINELESS GOVERNMENTS. AND DOWN WITH CORPORATISM THAT MAKES MARKETS OWN & DICTATE THEIR TERMS TO THE GOVERNMENTS. In a true Socialist country, this would never have happened. That now leaves us with Dawood Ibrahim, who again may die a peaceful natural death at his safe havens in Dubai or Karachi instead of being brought back to India & tried for his crimes against humanity. So much for #AchcheDin.
