Another piece to this puzzle is the fact that once states adopt Common Core (At the risk of losing Race to the Top funding if they don’t), they must submit to the national standard. This takes away the right of the state to choose its own curriculum; it takes away the right of the teacher to decide how to teach the curriculum and it takes away the right of the parent who is the ultimate decider of their child’s education. What it comes down to is we now have a national educational system instead of an individual state educational system. It is the old argument of big federal government VS. limited local government.
