Another quick update for anyone interested in the situation inside Sharm el Sheikh. It has been confirmed that security has been stepped up, the government have placed a ban on tourists travelling outwith Sharm el sheikh until they are sure the country is secure. This means you can move around freely within Sharm el sheikh but you cannot leave and visit places Mount Sinai, Cairo, Luxor, Petra, Jerusalem as last summer, all trips out with Sharm cancelled, the other trips inside Sharm still running as normal. There are a small check points within Sharm el sheikh operating where vehicles are randomly checked and searched. Most hotels are now searching vehicles inside and outside before they access the grounds, some even have sniffer dogs. Airport security is at it’s highest with each vehicle being checked on arrival, plenty of army personnel present and trained dogs. As always we continue to feel safe and well protected here, everyone is continuing as normal and you honestly wouldn’t think there are issues in Egypt by visiting Sharm el sheikh alone.
