Another silent radioactive road job !!!! I find it quite disturbing that this road project is not being labelled for what it actually is -- so, be extremely cautious travelers, as this section of Military Road is RADIOACTIVE and its difficult to believe that the state or towns are not aware of this -- if I am. This \section of North Military Road was identified in a 1970s EG&G aerial radiation survey that was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Enery. The same survey that disclosed that Lewiston Road and Buffalo Avenue were. Those roads caused a serious problem during reconstruction when they were found to be Hot from radioactive road -fill and bedding!! The two previously mentioned roads were found to be at 180,000 and ONE MILLION Counts Per Minute (CPM) on a Geiger-Counter which equates to an Exclusion (NO PEOPLE ALLOWED) Zone -- of Chernobyl and Fulushima degree of contamination!!! This is of danger not only to the traveling/commuting public, but to school aged children using the New York Power Authoritys Reservoir State Park along with the houses just to the south and east of this roadway as well as customers of businesses at the corner of Military Road and Saunders Settlement Rd. I further find it egregious that when this subject comes up and these sorts of comments can be made by those in the know, the Niagara Gazette chooses to give the article by-line the heading of Staff Reports so as to not implicate any one reporter. This is disgusting and very likely illegal according to all environmental protection laws on the books! As mentioned, a silent nuclear clean out without any notification of these facts to the public. I for one will not be going anywhere near this area while they are digging, creating airborne dust and or re-paving these portions of that road! This should also be of great concern to the homeowners in that area. Once again I find myself issuing the warning to not drive in this area with you car windows down. DONT BREATH THIS DUST! Period!!
