Another surgery done!! After a long 3 hours Elijah is out and recovering. The surgery went really well. They cut away two parts of the bowel and reconnected it, the hernia they found more tricky. Whilst doing the surgery they found one of his testes havent descended so that is something they are monitoring. He is on a lot of pain relief and quite sedated, although he did open his eyes a little for us. The recovery from the surgery can be quite long and he will stay incubated for a few days. It takes a while for the bowel to start working again and it has had so much trauma and is in shock. Feeds wont be started for a bit until they see the bowel starting to work. All in all he got through another successful surgery and was looking really well. He did need a blood transfusion as he was a bit anemic. The next few days he will be monitored closely. Whilst we were at the hospital we had Luca in emergency due to reflux and colic. The poor little man screams for 4-5 hours straight at night in pain, we now have some meds for that so hopefully he can get some relief. Little elijah also has reflux and is on the same meds.
