Anthony Banbury, the outgoing head of the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER), has said I believe we will end Ebola in 2015”. But he warned the end is “not close” and “we are engaged in an epic battle”. The newly appointed head of UNMEER is Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed of Mauritania. WHO advice: Ebola patients need to drink water and litres of Oral Rehydration Solution every day. If you do not have Oral Rehydration Salt at home, you can make your own. In 1 litre of clean water, add 6 teaspoons of sugar and half a teaspoon of salt. Liberian schools will re-open on 2 February, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has announced. The schools were closed to stop spread of the Ebola virus. Ebola has been declining in the country but transmission is still intense in some regions.
