*Anyone here got an answer for me? Got a 1,8t that runs rough and drinks fuel like a hummer. Happend in cronological order; Day x; lost tank lock Day x+3; drove to a neighbouring city, everything is fine. As I drive off the highway to the neighbouring city I reached red lights. I now stand still, engine still on. Lights go green and I start driving, and it is here that it all started. The car felt weak like its choked. It vibrates on when giving gas, the more you press the pedal the stronger the vibration. Day x+5; I drive it to a mechanic, he plugs a VAG COM to the computer but everything comes out perfect. I tell him to change the fuelfilter and he does this. When he lifted the car we felt a radiating heat. He changes it and asks me to drive a shorter distance, he asks me to not spare on the gas, and thats what I did. I drive it back and when Im back after a few minutes there is another costumer who has his car lifted so I park mine outside and thought lets check under the car to see if it still radiates heat.. The cat was glowing. Now, around 20 days after the above story things are the same. I cant get my finger on where the problem is. Was at a friends house who said it doesnt sound like it runs on all cylinders. Bought new and he checked them, all seem to be working. So we lift the car and loosen the bolts where the first and second part of the exhuastsystem meet, behind the cat. Car seem to be working easier, so there must be a problem there? But this was after the cat? So the cant cant be to blame? Two days after this I take it to a mechanic who doesnt have time atm but asks me to turn on the engine, he says the same thing about the cylinders but I told him that weve checked them, so he was thinking maybe its the coils there. One hour later I take it to another mechanic who plugs in a BOSCH version of vag-com. He finds faulty code P1030, bank 1 line 1, circuit malfunction lambda. It would explain why the car is drinking so much, but not why it felt easier when I loosened the exhaustsystem at the middle. I know the MAF can be the bad guy and give P1030.. I unplugged the MAF yesterday, didnt drive though. Unplugged it, started the car. The engine sounded worse, i hit the gas a few times in neutral, and it starts smelling like fuel so I turned it off. This smell has existed with the MAF plugged on during this month under times where Ive pressed the car to see how it reacts to higher speeds/higher RPM (the car seems to run better if not fine at higher speeds(100km/h+ and RPM around 3000), but I dont want to use high RPM as if there is a stoppage in the exhaust I might blow the turbo.. Anyone?? I want my babe back
