Anyone watching wwdc today can say you were there for the birth of a major language. It didnt rise from obscurity through a killer framework like ruby or objective-c, it wasnt born from a nearly toy browser language like JS, and it didnt slowly claw its way up to popularity like PHP or Python. Instead it sprang, fully-formed, from the head of Zeus into instant widespread use. Are there any other languages like that? Even Go, with the full support of Google, took some time to get any sort of userbase. Swift, on the other hand, is all but guaranteed to have a huge community almost instantly.
