Anyone who knows me will know how much I love the music of India. - TopicsExpress

Anyone who knows me will know how much I love the music of India. Im talking all styles - Hindustani classical music, Carnatic, devotional, folk, street music, Bhangra, Ghazal - but especially the crazy, dirty, wild and madly inspired film music of the 60s and 70s. Ive regularly convinced my friends travelling India to bring me back crates of dusty, dirty, scratched & often rare old Bollywood vinyl, and theres always amazing musical gold to be found. The beyond incredible singers, virtuosic instrumentalists & mind-bending arrangements (not to mention some of the most beautifully gritty & distorted recordings ever made) are unique in the history of recorded music. So thats the background to my next EP Blessed, which is being released by Muti Music April 15. The Instrumental was inspired by an awesome old Bollywood record I discovered thanks to Music From The Third Floor, and Sizzla absolutely destroys it over the driving tabla, sarod and morsing (mouth harp) pattern. Its not just an anthem to the poor and struggling in the world, its a wake up call for everyone to get up, work hard and make shit happen! Blessed is a ten track remix EP, and theres some absolute killers including a heaving jungle anthem from Benny Page, one of my favourite ever hiphop joints from mOnkeymArc, as well as mad re-working from my bros Ptero Stylus, Andreilien Heyoka & more.
