Earlier this evening my cousin and I were talking about some of the stories weve heard throughout our lives about different family members pertaining to church and it was mentioned that one of our uncles was a church of the gods preacher-- so it kind of peaked my interest to read up on some of their history. I was listening to a recording of an interview of A. J. Tomlinson, the founder of the church of the gods denomination from back in 1943 before his death. He was asked about holiness living .... he was pretty staunch on it being absolutely essential for a member of the cog to abide by what all of us genuine Oneness Apostolic Pentecostals believe when it comes to Holiness standards today. Tomlinsons beliefs pretty much co-sided with a lot of the things that I remember my Grandmother said she remembered about her uncle who was a c.o.g. preacher. For example, he wouldnt allow a radio in his home, or women braiding their hair, or wear slacks, jewelry, etc. Well, then I went to youtube and typed in c.o.g. general assembly and watched a few minutes of a video clip from 2013-- needless to say, it showed women on the stage with bobbed off hair, earrings, makeup, etc. and I thought to myself ... man, despite their doctrinal errors, its sad to see the drastic changes that has overtaken that denomination. So, then I remembered a video clip I watched last night of a prominent Oneness conference that takes place in Louisiana every year. This particular video clip was from 1990-- well, I compared that 1990 video to a 2013 video clip of the same conference and I also noticed little bits of change here and there. For example, the skirts seemed to be a lot shorter and revealing in 2013 than back in 1990. Then I thought about how various affirmations within that particular churchs fellowship circle have been changed ... The point is . . . we all know it appears that the church is getting worldlier and in some cases that is certainly true. However, the standards of the Church will never change! What was wrong then, is wrong now-- Now, if youre apart of an Apostolic Church where the pastor preaches Holiness and separation, along with Truth, then you better count your blessings and thank God for your pastor, all the while standing behind them while they fight against tide of worldliness and refuse to give in to pressures of the world! It is still holiness or hell and that will NEVER change! #ThankGodForYourPastor #PrayForYourPastor #HolinessUntoTheLord
