Anytime you try to start something new or go against the grain of what is, there will be some skepticism or reluctance. Its an uphill climb of recruiting people to notice and/or attend your project. If you dont have the liberty of being able to afford billboards to promote, and youre relegated to guerrilla means, pointed internet posts, and word of mouth. But if those avenues of promotion are effective, the end result is a great feeling of pride and accomplishment that your project is successful. There is a momentum created, and hopefully enough to elevate to a next level of progress. The MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR party is a classic, yet a new work in progress. Gone is the the time of Black Betty which was home to it, for 3 amazing fun filled, magical years on saturday nights. Thats not coming back. But there are alot of people around Brooklyn who often reminisce about those times, and im bringing the formula back to a very stylish, intimate, interesting spot in Bushwick called Lot 45. Bumpin sound system, $5 beers. Couches to sit, but space to dance. In addition to me setting the tone on the set, i have two other Black Betty alum and stalwarts of music knowledge and talent, Djs Greg Caz and Monk One coming thru for guest sets. Me and my partner Saint, known together as THE GOOD PEOPLE (thats our logo below) will be performing a half hour set of our songs plus the new record that just came out on Fresh Pressings International. Well have limited copies of the 7 VINYL of the new release for sale. I have another Black Betty vet, Mr. I-Storm playing percussion and saxaphone during the night along with the djs. Were celebrating the birthdays of some great friends. Its shaping up to be a classic night. I want YOU to be apart of it all. Saturday, August 2nd.
