Apologies for the late response, but a huge thanks to Mike for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge nomination! Seeing that Ive clearly missed the 24 hour deadline, and in an effort to conserve water, Ive decided to opt for a monetary donation instead of participating in the ice challenge presently. That said, Id like to enthusiastically pass (shove?) the baton on to the following people: Nathan Loewy (dont forget Sadie!), the rest of the Dodd crew Nathaniel Vilas and Matthew Goss, my Nava-co Rachel Waldman, the entertaining Israel Jones, Karin Larson and her boyfriend - er, I mean friend - Xaitheng Yang ; as well as the suave Alex Huang, the sensational Miller Zhu, the adequate Tara Tankersley, and the North Dakota homeboy Phil Brockman. Also, in response to a particular donkey remark, it is with great pleasure that I also select Deborah Pikovsky. :) Additionally, Id like to nominate the incredibly inspiring Liz Murray, whom I hope will also consider participating in this momentous cause. 24 hours folks to freeze AND/or donate, enjoy! A little background information: ALS is a neurodegenerative disease involving the impairment of motor neuronal functioning, which is responsible for voluntary muscle control. Due to the progressive nature of the condition, this impairment will eventually lead to flaccid paralysis and, ultimately, to death. According to ALSA, all donations collected will help to provide local services to people with ALS, global research to find a cure and advocacy efforts to raise awareness of this devastating disease.
