The Aaronic Blessing This is otherwise known as the Priestly Blessing that the Lord spoke to Moses in Numbers 6:22-26, telling him to Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: The Lord Bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace. (v.24-26) Indeed, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ is to receive the Blessing of God! Rabbi Schneider performing the Aaronic Blessing Traditionally, the priests blessed the people every morning after the sacrifice at the Temple. Today, many synagogues end their service with this blessing as a benediction. This is typically performed with the hands raised palms facing downwards, and the thumbs of the outstretched hands touching. The four fingers on each hand are sometimes split into two sets of two fingers each which forms the Hebrew letter, Shin, (which is an emblem for Shaddai, or The All-Sufficient God!)
