Basis of Stunted childhood -2 As evangelists and zealous saints cast the net of salvation into the sea of humanity they pull in all manner of people. Proclaiming the basic minimum which is to ‘believe in the heart and confess with the tongue’, people ‘see’ the Kingdom and begin to attend ‘Church’ as in become one of some who go into a particular building each week to hear a ‘man or woman of God’ preach, teach or minister. With time, the zeal and natural talents of the ‘new believer’ are used as indices of determining his or her ‘religious career’.If such a fellow is generous or smart and invests some good money to further the agenda of the group affiliated to, the favour of leadership is assured. Unfortunately, the scenario above does not scope the character of the new convert and life outside the Church building, including family! Their true development from child hood to son-ship is not made a main issue. After some years of ‘being faithful to leadership’ and showing commitment to the vision, this spiritually stunted child ‘and in some cases made twice a child of hell) is ‘appointed’ a leader by the discretion of the denominational authorities. tbc
