Are Chelsea and Mourinho scared of Arsenal? The players and fans - TopicsExpress

Are Chelsea and Mourinho scared of Arsenal? The players and fans of Arsenal Football finally have good reason for optimism as we prepare for the coming Premier League season. Not only has the club moved out of the heavy financial burden imposed on Arsene Wenger by the building of the Emirates stadium, all of the other three clubs from last season’s top four are in a state of upheaval, offering us real hope that the Gunners can challenge for the Premier League title once again. At least one of those clubs appears to be taking the threat posed by Arsenal seriously, because Chelsea and Jose Mourinho are reportedly ready to wreck the transfer of Wayne Rooney from Manchester United. According to The Independent, Mourinho is determined not to let Rooney come to the Emirates, if Moyes and United do agree to sell him, and they certainly have the financial clout to do so. They have already been linked with another Arsenal transfer target Stevan Jovetic, and it is beginning to look like Mourinho is doing his best to throw a spanner in the works of Arsenal’s progress. I don’t like the man, but you cannot disagree with the fact that he gets results. He is also known for meticulous planning, and knocking Wenger and the Gunners off their stride could be one aspect of his plan for Chelsea. Mourinho has good reason to be concerned about Arsenal. When he joined Chelsea the first time back in 2004, Arsenal had just completed the invincible season. We were much stronger back then, and he has missed the worst of our struggles in recent years. He will also be aware of how we finished last season and know that times are changing for the club. We think that Arsenal will be a lot more competitive next season, and it appears that Mourinho does too. We should take that as an encouraging sign, but Wenger must be careful not to let the Chelsea boss get under his skin, because mind games are one of his major tactics. Wenger also needs to keep his transfer dealings as secret as possible until they are completed, but he is already a master at that. It seems that Mourinho is now the `voyeur`. Bring it on Chelski!
