Are You A Friend? Proverbs 27:6 New International Version (NIV) 6 Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses. For Meditation Are you a friend – a good and trusted friend? Why then didnt you tell me I was being making a fool of myself and to get myself together? Why didnt you tell me I was wrong? Why did you lie to me about the reality of the situation? Why did you conceal the truth from me? Oh, so you thought I would be hurt if you told me the truth? You thought that was the best way to show your love to me? How about now that I have fallen into trouble because of my foolishness? Are you now going to show your love to me by sticking around so closely, when earlier, you could have helped me avoid this pain and anguish? Haven’t you heard what Solomon says in Proverbs 27:6 ? “Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses”. So, in lieu of all these things, what do you think you are to me - a friend or an enemy? I pray you will be truthful to your friend in everything if you really call yourself a friend, whether the truth will hurt the person or it will make him angry. For, it is better for your friend to take the blows from you now, than to wait until he stumbles – you do not know how severe and painful the fall will be. So: May you be a friend who loves at all times ( Prov. 17:17 ), for love protects; and may your friendship bring you much joy because you mutually look after each other! Shalom Pastor Baafi
