Are the policies and interventions of the Government further widening the gap between the two India? Are these policies, programmes and understandings, an attack on the poor, the minorities and the other excluded and marginalised groups? How has this impacted civil liberties and democratic rights? While there is a euphoria in the media and the top echelons of our society that now Development will finally happen, what is meant by the term Development? What does it entail? It is very important to examine this question. Will the fabric of Indian society be able to take impact of a politics which consolidates the majority community? Will this development politics empower the poor and excluded even within its own?
